How To Create A Hair Knot
The hair knot, also known as a hair bun or chignon, is a timeless style that can be worn anywhere. Celebrity Hair Stylist Robert Steinken shows VideoJug how to create the perfect hair knot.
Step 1: You Will Need
- 1 Brush
- 1 Coated Elastic Band
- 3 to 6 Bobby Pins
- 1 Hair Spray
- 1 Shine Serum
Step 2: Brush
Begin by brushing to smooth and detangle the hair. While it seems obvious, this step is too often overlooked, resulting in those ever-frustrating bumps in your ponytail or updo. Try using a paddle brush with boar bristles; it adds shine to your hair.
Step 3: Create A Ponytail
Brush your hair away from your face and gather it into your hand. Wrap a coated elastic band around your hair. Separate your ponytail into two sections and gently tug to secure the band.
Step 4: Twist
Twist the hair of your ponytail from the elastic band to the ends. If you're hair is layered or prone to frizzes and flyaways, apply a few drops of shine serum to your hands before twisting to keep your hair smooth and sleek.
Step 5: Wrap
Carefully wrap your twisted hair into a coil around the band. Use one hand to wrap your hair and another to hold the central part of the coil in place.
Step 6: Secure With Bobby Pins
Tuck the ends of your hair under the knot and secure with a bobby pin. Place another bobby pin on the opposite side of the knot. Two pins works for those with fine hair but if your hair's thick, you'll need to use more.
Step 7: Finishing Spray
Now that you've created the perfect knot…finish it off with some hairspray to keep it that way.
How To Create A Messy Knot
Step 1: You Will Need
- 1 Hair Brush
- 1 Coated Elastic Band
- 3 Hair Pins or Bobby Pins
Step 2: Brush
Begin by brushing to smooth and detangle the hair. While it seems obvious, this step is too often overlooked, resulting in ugly bumps in a ponytail or updo. Celebrity Stylist Robert Steinken recommends using a paddle brush with boar bristles.
Step 3: Create A Ponytail Loop
Brush your hair away from your face and gather it into your hand. Wrap a coated elastic band around your hair. When the band is stretched just about as far as it can go, stop. Don't pull that last bit of hair through, just leave it in a loop.
Step 4: Wrap
Grab the free ends of your hair and wrap them around your looped ponytail. Allow the ends to feather and stray as they may.
Your messy knot is almost finished. At this point, you should have a knot with random pieces of hair sticking out. The elastic band should no longer be visible.
Step 6: Shape
For optimal cuteness, you want to shape your knot. Take the loop of your hair and fan out the sides a bit. Then secure each side with a bobby pin.
How To Wrap Your Ponytail
Step 1: Side Ponytail
It's very simple. Its just a side ponytail but instead of actually having a nice clip or like a rubber band; when I say rubber band I mean these clear ones, because I know there's a lot of talk about it going back and forth.
Step 2: Hair Rubber Bands
They're hair rubber bands. They're clear. No, it doesn't rip out my hair or anything like that. I get these at Ulta. They're by Hot Tools. Super inexpensive, I think they're two dollars. Don't buy the ones at the ninety nine cent stores, because they will break.
Step 3: Hot Rollers
Anyway, lets get back to this, so first thing is you're going to curl your hair, hot rollers whatever, so it's going to look a little messy. Who cares?
Step 4: Comb Hair
Then you're going to take your comb and your going to comb all of your hair to the side. You can decide to do like a little poofy thing right here, and it'll just give you some height, or you can just go to a ponytail, straight into it. So here we go.
Step 5: Smooth Hair Back
So I'm just going to grab it, make sure it's smooth in the back. Kind of have everything angled towards the side and brush it over. I'm going to put it in a ponytail. I like to use two of them at the same time and I like to get it right under my ear. Right on the side.
This is really great like if you were trying to have curly hair that day and it just didn't turn out and you want to show your curls because of all that hard work, but it just didn't get that right.

Step 6: Rubber Band The Hair
This is really great like if you were trying to have curly hair that day and it just didn't turn out and you want to show your curls because of all that hard work, but it just didn't get that right.
So, this is what you do. Now that you have it rubber-banded up, next thing is your going to take a bobby pin and your going to take a good amount of hair. Not too much. Like this, this is probably the max that I would take. I'd take a longer strand. Maybe this much is better.

Step 7: Fix Hair
All right, then you're going to take it and wrap it around your hair. And what you're going to do is, you're going to strategically have this end on the inner part of your hair. So you're just going to keep going around and around until you have that end on the inside.
Super simple. Then you're going to take your bobby pin, see if I can show you, and you're going to go right through this part that you've twisted and right through your rubber band. And you're going to hide it on the underside of your hair. So I won't be able to show you exactly how I do it, but I can show you on the outside.

Step 8: Bobby Pin
All right, so, here is your rubber band and your hair is going to be wrapped around all of it then you're going to take your bobby pin and imagine your hair, "I can't do it", wrapped all the way around here. You're going to take it and you're going to go right through the rubber band as well and pull it all the way in. So this is going to be what it looks like in here, but underneath so that you can't see the bobby pin.
And then you got this nice, tight ponytail. You can do pigtails, you can do it up here, you can do it back here, wherever but it will be nice and tight, just like that! And that's pretty much it!

How To Dutch Braid Hair
Apply smoothing cream to your hair to calm any frizziness, avoiding the scalp as it'll make the roots greasy.
Make a loose parting from the top of the ears to the middle of your crown.
Divide this piece of hair into 3 sections.
Move the right section under the middle section so the middle section moves to the right. This section should now be added to by taking extra hair from the right side of the head and bringing it into the braid.
Repeat the process on the other side - so the left section moves under the middle, and the middle section is moved to the left and added to with a fine piece of hair from the left.
Use a comb to correct any unevenness and finish the style with more smoothing cream if necessary.
Okeh, Girls
That's all for my post :D
I hope this post can be important for you !
